It is less than a month now before thousands of GCSE and A-Level students get their results and Generation Logistics is offering school and college leavers a glimpse of the careers that exist in the sector.
Freddie Clarke, a regional operations analyst at CEVA Logistics, first applied for a role within project management in January 2024 while in his second year of A-Levels.
After an initial video call interview, he secured a follow-up interview at the head office in Leicestershire where he presented his ideas for the future of logistics over the next five years.
This required a lot of preparation and hard work and so Clarke was thrilled when he was offered the job the next day.
He started in June 2024 when he was just 17 and threw himself into the role, working hard to learn, understand expectations and make the most of every opportunity.
Unfortunately, when he received his exam results they did not meet the criteria for the degree aspect of his apprenticeship, which prompted a three-month review to assess whether another role would become available within the business.
During that time, he continued to focus on his work and demonstrate his commitment to the business.
Shortly before Christmas 2024, he was informed that the team needed someone with more experience to hit the ground running, but because of his performance and potential CEVA would support him in finding another opportunity internally.
This led to a job offer of a regional operations analyst in the new year, which Clarke began at the beginning of February.

He said: “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and for the belief the business has shown in me throughout my journey.
“In a short amount of time, I’ve developed a wide range of professional skills and gained valuable experience across different areas of the business, which has strengthened my confidence and passion for the sector.
“My advice to anyone considering a career in logistics would be to stay open-minded, work hard and take every opportunity that comes your way, because you never know where it might lead.”
Generation Logistics programme director Bethany Windsor said: “Joining CEVA and starting his career in logistics at such a young age, Freddie has demonstrated such great career growth and highlighted the opportunities available within logistics and how determination, adaptability and a willingness to learn can open doors to exciting careers.
“As young people prepare to receive their exam results, it’s important they understand that there are many different pathways into rewarding careers, and logistics offers opportunities for people with a wide range of interests and skills.”
