A Cumbrian haulage firm said it was saving time and boosting its compliance after investing in a new transport management system (TMS).

Family-run HBP Transport was initially looking just to replace its legacy vehicle tracking system but opted for a full TMS after meeting with HaulTech.

The Barrow-in-Furness waste haulier carries out a range of haulage including plant equipment and waste management and operates 16 HGVs and 24 vans.

Julie Cooper, HBP transport administrator, said: “We had a tracking system but had found that it didn’t give us the information we needed in terms of reporting and compliance.

“We looked at a couple of providers and chose HaulTech because it could offer a full package – along with tracking and vehicle defects checks we got job planning right the way through from booking to invoicing.”

HaulTech said its TMS could reduce administrative processes by up to 80% and that it could also help hauliers control and cut their operational costs too.

HBP said it was relying on key features such as vehicle defect checks, app-based PoDs, job booking and management and vehicle tracking.

“The TMS is great for managing jobs from start to finish,” added Cooper.

“When you are inputting each ticket manually, one by one onto an invoice, it takes a lot of time. HaulTech automates a lot of that work, so going paperless has definitely speeded up those processes.”
