Angela Carus - Managing Director, Boughey Distribution

Cheshire-based Boughey Distribution has named Angela Carus (pictured) as new MD.

She joins from Culina Group where she was director of operations and takes over the role from Keith Forster who has retired after 20 years with the company.

Boughey said Carus brings an impressive track-record of industry expertise to the role, including hands-on warehouse experience.

Her first job in the industry, not long after leaving school, was as a warehouse picker for Wincanton. Since then she has held senior roles with a broad spectrum of companies including Gist, Kuehne+Nagel, XPO and NYK Logistics.

She aims to prioritise the environment, staff development and customer care in her new role, securing the strength of the business for the future, the company said.

“I am extremely fortunate to have joined a successful business in excellent shape," Carus said. "We have a talented team of people here who are passionate and proud of the business they’re part of. There are good standards in place across our two sites in Wardle and Crewe and we have long-standing positive relationships with many of our customers.

“Our people, a substantial number with long service records, are the company’s most important asset and what really stands out is the ‘family feel’ of the business which, for a company with a turnover of £62m, is a real asset.”

Carus highlighted the labour shortage as the industry's key challenge but pledged to make staff benefits packages a priority, as well as helping colleagues to save money.

“Caring for the environment, our energy use and working on sustainability are all top of my agenda," she continued. "We want to be one of the industry leaders in environmental responsibility. We are exploring a number of areas to see how and where we can improve on our carbon impact.

“Finding ways to take costs out of the supply chain by working with customers will also be key to our success, as well as developing our staff skills. Building relationships with local schools and communities will be important to build our future workforce, alongside creating opportunities for our team to learn and develop.”
