Amazon S-WAY 2 (1)

Iveco said Amazon has ordered another 848 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to add to the first batch of 216 S-Way tractors which have already been delivered.

The vehicles will be operated by Amazon’s partners in Europe and the new order will start being delivered in the middle of next year.

The trucks are powered by FPT industrial cursor 13 natural gas engines and equipped with 1,052-litre CNG tanks, with the expectation that they will yield a range of 620km between refuelling.

Iveco said the 848 units on order for delivery in 2022 will also feature Driver Pal, the brand’s on-board vocal driver companion with Amazon Alexa features.

Gerrit Marx, designated chief executive of Iveco Group, said: “Collaboration with global leaders like Amazon is a testament to the robust capability of our innovative products and our unyielding commitment to the industry objective of decarbonizing transport by 2050.

“Iveco Group will continue leading the way in combustion engines running on renewable fuels, the only viable solution already available at scale on the market to reduce emissions.”
