Company Shop Group 3

Company Shop Group has boosted its fleet with six DAF XF 480 tractors and six Grey & Adams dual compartment refrigerated trailers, all fitted with safety features to comply with London’s Direct Vision scheme.

The company has also taken delivery of an 18t DAF CF and a 26t MAN fridge box, both of which are dual compartment to the fleet.

The vehicles and fridge boxes were supplied by Dawsongroup truck and trailer, which has worked with Company Shop Group for 20 years.

Company Shop Group has taken on the vehicles on long-term contract hire with the new agreement including repairs, maintenance, 24-hour breakdown cover and the provision of replacement vehicles.

The firm, which redistributes surplus food and household products, is used by many large retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers, to unlock value from surplus stock whilst at the same time reducing waste.

Over the last three years Company Shop Group has handled over 225 million items, including over 28,000 tonnes of food and drink through its membership-only Company Shop stores and award-winning social enterprise, Community Shop.

The investment in new trucks is part of the Company Shop Group’s mission to transform the nation’s mindset about the way it deals with surplus food and household products – described by the firm as ‘Corporate Surplus Responsibility’.

Andrew Fox (pictured left), transport manager at Company Shop Group, said: “We chose Dawsongroup truck and trailer because we already had an excellent working relationship built on trust and excellent service over a number of years.

“Ian Brownson (pictured right) and Alex Lees at the company’s Doncaster depot took the time to listen to our needs and genuinely understand our operation and its mission.”

Ian Brownson, area sales manager at Dawsongroup truck and trailer, added: “I have worked with Company Shop Group since 2014, and I like to think this latest deal is recognition of our respect and trust for each other.

“We’re proud to be Company Shop Group’s sole vehicle supplier and look forward to working further with them in the future.”
