Imperial Logistics International (UK) has renewed its contract with a major car manufacturer.
The company, which declined to reveal the identity of the car manufacturer, has been re-appointed to provide just in time (JIT) and just in sequence (JIS) operations.
The contract sees Imperial provide nationwide transport services including the collection of components and assemblies from 19 suppliers and their delivery to a central storage facility.
The South African-owned logistics firm, which is based in Swindon, will also operate shuttles between the remote body panel production site and the main assembly location and provide the management and operation of 554,000sq ft of component warehousing, along with sequenced supply of parts to the assembly track.
The contract employs over 150 staff and management, and involves a fleet of 40 dedicated tractor/trailer combinations.
Under the deal Imperial will transport around 130 full trailer loads per day, and will handle an average of 30,000 pallets weekly.
