Kitchen retailer and Motor Transport Awards winner Wren Kitchens is on the hunt for drivers and warehouse staff as it prepares to open a new depot on the outskirts of Manchester.
The four-acre transport hub, which opens this month, joins the retailer’s five others in Howden, Barton, Bristol, Stansted and Larkhall.
This latest investment is part of wider growth plans, which will see Wren open another three depots across the UK this year as part of plans to drive business growth and also reduce fuel costs and the fleet's emissions.
The new hub will see 18 vehicles running from it each day and create around 40 jobs, including HGV drivers, porters, yardmen and supervisors.
Lee Holmes, Wren Kitchens head of transport operations, said: “We operate a complex operation, delivering over 2,000 kitchens a week to customers across the length and breadth of the UK.
“Our logistics are at the heart of Wren’s success, and as the company continues to grow, so does the need for better connectivity to be closer to our customers across the UK to ensure we continue to deliver 99.5% on time and in full.
“We’re also focusing on reducing our impact on the environment, and with the recent investment of greener trucks and our increased presence across the UK, we will continue to reduce CO2 emissions.”
Wren Kitchens won the Operational Excellence Award at the Motor Transport Awards 2019 and operates a fleet of over 180 lorries.
