Hermes has opened its new Rugby super hub, increasing its overall parcel processing capacity by almost 50%. The parcel carrier broke ground on the new £31m facility in January 2016. Creating more than 100 new jobs in the area, the new hub covers 270,000ft² and increases the network’s processing capacity by 45%. Parcels delivery giant Hermes has completed the installation of a third sortation tier at its Rugby super hub, which at 270,000sq ft is claimed to be Europe’s largest automated parcels sortation centre.
Hermes has won a contract extension from River Island, covering home delivery of clothes, shoes and accessories ordered online.
Hermes is set to roll out an improved delivery window service this year, which will narrow its delivery slots down to just a couple of hours.
