Profit at Fred Sherwood and Sons (Transport) saw a resurgence in the year to 31 March 2015, climbing almost 70%.

In its report pubished at Companies House, the company attributed the increase in profit to its strategy to expand its business via “new options and contracts.”   It added: “This has proved to be a successful approach as the profitability of the company has been maintained year-on-year and is expected to continue or improve.”

The Shepshed, Leicestershire-based company said the strategy was a necessity in the face of “increased competition and changes to the needs of customers (which) results in major contracts not being guaranteed and unless this risk is addressed income in future years could fall.”
