Global Freight Solutions (GFS) has called on online retailers to increase the number of delivery options they offer consumers and consider using more third party carriers, as demand from internet shoppers and pressure on carrier capacity continues to grow.

Royal Mail is opening eight temporary sorting centres to handle the expected rise in parcel volumes this Christmas. The centres will be dedicated to sorting a ‘significant proportion’ of the parcels handled by the firm before they are distributed to regional depots across the country.
