Leicestershire-based Cobley Transport will start work on a £4m purpose-built home in Broughton Astley this summer, in what should be a transformational move for the business.

It will bring Cobley’s operations under a single roof for the first time in years, as currently its business is split between Broughton Astley and a warehousing site at nearby Foxbank Industrial Estate in Stoney Stanton.

The 30,000ft² facility will offer ample storage and house the haulier’s 70-strong vehicle fleet and 45-plus trailers. Their also be ample space allowing Cobley to offer overnight parking and a refused loads service to operators traveling into Lutterworth’s Magna Park.

"We want to expand and grow as a business. We are working hard to modernise our operation and the new site is central to this," said Cobley Transport general manager Nick Marshall.

Marshall added that the company aims to grow its pallet business, which currently contributes around £1m of its £8m annual turnover.

It also wants to concentrate on handling more general haulage work within the surrounding Leicestershire area, akin to its existing deal that sees it handling Norbert Dentressangle deliveries within the LE postcode.
