Suckling Transport delivered an 8% rise in pre-tax profit in the year to 31 December 2015, according to its latest annual results. Pre-tax profit was £1.3m (2014: £1.2m) with turnover up 2.5% to £19.9m (2014: £19.4m). Suckling Transport said growth had been driven by maintaining its long-term customer base whilst adding short-term and spot-hire customers, as well as expanding its business geographically (TankShare, its spot-hire business, opened sites in Bedworth and Teesside during the year). Tanker operators can cut the cost of expanding their fleet by up to 50% by using TIP Tankers to remount their own tanker fleet. Tanker remounting involves reusing stainless steel barrels and fitting these onto new chassis equipped with the latest running gear.
Suttons Transport Group parent Thomas Cradley Holdings saw its UK turnover jump almost 10% in the year ended April 2012, from £75.4m to £82.9m. The figure includes a contribution of £63.5m (an increase of 14% year-on-year) from Sutton & Sons (St Helens), the UK road tanker, warehousing and drumming operation of Suttons Transport Group.
