Fortec has launched a new European service which will see it make daily and scheduled deliveries through parent company Geodis’s network. ‘Simply European’, which is designed for frequent movement of low-volume pallet loads, will allow Fortec’s customers to send consignments to up to 24 countries across the continent. Lancashire’s Ainsworth & Martin has become North West Logistics, relocating from its Preston home to a new site in Accrington. Fortec-member Ainsworth & Martin acquired North West Logistics some two years ago. The complementary businesses had been run separately, but after a £100,000 investment in the Accrington facility, Ainsworth & Martin joined its stablemate at Altham Business Estate this summer. A year after taking on the role of commercial director at pallet network Fortec, after 13 years looking after the finances, Marcus Fischer reflects: “It’s been an interesting 12 months. We have taken the next big step in Fortec’s evolution. Our MD Neil Hodgson and I spent 2012 refining the network and creating a solid business. My new role helps take Fortec on the next stage of its journey.”
