Essex-based Canute Haulage Group saw both turnover and pre-tax profit rise in its most recent trading year.

According to documents filed at Companies House, turnover at Canute Haulage Group rose to £91.2m for the year-ending 31 July 2014, up from £87.8m in the previous financial year. Pre-tax profit also rose, to £1.7m, up from £955,000.

It said that in order to meet its objectives it had set itself seven targets, including: “increase our market share and improve the return on investment by cutting out marginal return operating divisions”.

Other targets include reducing the cost of its operations.

In April 2014 Canute revealed at the Multimodal show that it had renewed its contract with cookware firm Lakeland, a contract it has been involved with since it acquired the retailer's previous supplier, REE Distribution in 2001.
