Essex-based Canute Group has secured a contract renewal from cookware firm Lakeland.
The renewed contract involves trunking from Lakeland’s DC in Kendal, Cumbria to Canute’s depots in Warrington, Coventry, Kendal, and Gamston, Nottinghamshire. Products are then delivered to high street retailers overnight so that they are on the shelves the next day.
Lakeland chose the operator, which is exhibiting at this year’s Multimodal show, due to the cost and quality of service it provides.
Canute has held the contract since it acquired REE Distribution, which previously provided transport for Lakeland, in 2001.
Operations director Gary Sharp said that he was “delighted” that Lakeland had renewed its contract with the firm and said it would continue to provide a bespoke service to them.
The company did not disclose the length or value of the contract.
