Yearsley wins bun fight to take new bakery deal

Yearsley Group has won a new contract with bakery products manufacturer CSM that will see it collect, store and distribute more than 300 finished frozen product lines.

The deal involves collections from CSM’s factory at Bromborough, on the Wirral, consolidation of goods at Yearsley’s Heywood cold store in Lancashire, and distribution via the firm’s national network of warehouses to retailers nationwide.  The operation also involves some repacking.

Yearsley Group cold storage and distribution sales director Tim Moran said a dedicated customer service team would be set up for CSM, for whom the firm already undertakes other work at its Coleshill, Birmingham depot.

The logistics provider is currently expanding its Heywood HQ with a new 160,000ft² cold store, which will double pallet capacity to 80,000. The first 100,000ft² of new space should be completed within the next year.

It is also battling to get permission for a development in Peterborough, which faces opposition from local residents.
