XPO Logistics has extended its contract with the Co-op, which will see it continue to deliver to stores across the south of England and Wales.
XPO runs 180 tractor units on the Co-op contract, which has so far run for five years. It also utilises 300 trailers, 151 rigids and 500 drivers. Collectively, these assets will continue to deliver more than 100 million crates of Co-op goods annually.
The cargo, spanning all temperature bands, will be distributed to more than 1,000 stores.
Co-op said it had extended XPO’s contract because of the operator’s improved efficiencies and “significant cost-saving”, said its head of transport Jon Paul Brown.
Chris Hyde, business unit director of ambient food and drink at XPO Logistics, said: “Our longstanding collaboration with the Co-op has given us an excellent understanding of their customer expectations and operational requirements.
“We’re delighted to continue working together and are keen to deliver even greater supply chain enhancements over the coming years.”
