Construction logistics consolidation specialist SmartHub Logistics has given notice of its intention to appoint an administrator.

The company, which is part of Focus Group Logistics Ltd, has its headquarters in Hemel Hempstead and a depot at Rainham, Essex, with capacity in excess of 10,000 pallets.

SmartHub’s services include consolidation, logistics, distribution, transport, fulfilment, material handling, recycling, reverse logistics, logistics planning, and logistics consultancy.

The company is part of Focus Group Logistics Ltd, which specialises in construction logistics, waste management and associated services on major UK construction projects.

SmartHub’s latest accounts are overdue, according to Companies House. In its most recent financial statement, for the year to 31 October 2022, the company said it had a ”reasonable expectation” that it had adequate resources to continue trading “due to the ongoing support of Focus Group Logistics Ltd”.

Focus Group Logistics latest annual results, for the year ended 31 October 2023, reveal a slight rise in revenue to £14.7m (2022: £14.3m). However profit before tax fell to £241,000 (2022: £247,000).

In its report to its results Focus Group Logistics said its performance had remained firm despite the construction industry undergoing a “challenging environment” which had seen further delays to project starts.

A request for comment from SmartHub has yet to receive a response.
