Wincanton drivers in Scotland are to receive a 10% pay increase following negotiations between their union and the supply chain giant.
Unite said 30 HGV drivers based in Bellshill on the Howdens contract delivering kitchens will benefit from the “inflation beating” pay rise amounting to 10% over two years.
The first part of the deal will see a 7% increase being applied which will run from September until April 2025.
A second increase of 3% will be applied from next April to April 2026.
Unite added that the deal represented its first pay negotiation since it secured union recognition with Wincanton at the site in November 2023 and it was backed by 100% of its membership.
The union has also negotiated a guarantee that the drivers are paid for a full working day of nine hours, meaning that in the event that they are scheduled on a shorter shift of five hours they will still receive a full day’s pay.
Unite said it will enter into negotiations on the future terms and conditions of the drivers by January 2025, aimed to secure enhancements to the sick pay scheme and other company allowances.
Andrew Brown, Unite industrial officer, said: “The inflation beating pay increase for Unite’s Wincanton drivers at Bellshill is a deal which received the emphatic support of our membership.
“It also delivers on full daily pay and a commitment to improve the wider terms and conditions of our members.”
