“Operational and financial challenges” forced Northamptonshire haulier Instant Despatch Services (IDS) to close its doors after 25 years of trading, resulting in the loss of 42 jobs, administrators revealed this week.
The company, which traded as Loop Logistics, was founded in 2000 by founder Dennis Shaw and specialised in general haulage, palletised deliveries, fulfilment and storage.
IDS had an operating licence for 50 trucks and 45 trailers and a 600,000 sq ft warehouse and served a wide and diverse customer base across the UK
However, by November last year the company was foundering and appointed restructuring specialist FRP Advisory in a bid to save the business.
Despite efforts to get IDS back on track, the company was forced to cease trading on 24 April this year and entered into administration on 6 May, appointing Glyn Mummery and Julie Humphrey of FRP Advisory as joint administrators.
In a statement FRP Advisory said: “The business had experienced ongoing operational and financial challenges and FRP had been working with the directors since November 2025 to explore options to secure the future of the company.
“Despite these efforts, the business was ultimately unable to continue operating sustainably and trading ceased on 24 April 2026.
“A total of 42 employees have been made redundant, with a small number retained to assist the Joint Administrators with the orderly wind down of the business and to facilitate the collection of customer goods over the coming weeks.
“The administrators will also support those affected employees with claims to the Redundancy Payments Service.
Administrator Glyn Mummery added: “Loop Logistics had built an established presence in the logistics sector.
“Unfortunately, despite efforts to secure the future of the business, ongoing operational and financial challenges meant it was unable to continue trading.
“Our priority now is to support employees and customers while ensuring an orderly wind down of the business.”
