UK Freight Services has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, according to a Companies Court filing.
The Avonmouth-based operator has listed David Kemp and Richard Hunt of Freeths as proposed administrators. The application remains active and no administrator has yet been appointed.
A notice of intention to appoint administrators provides a company with protection from certain creditor actions while it considers its options and does not mean that an administration appointment has taken place.
The filing comes after the administration of closely linked business John Dinham Transport in 2024. The two companies have shared directors and have operated from the same Avonmouth site, with UK Freight Services continuing to trade under the John Dinham Transport name.
UK Freight Services was incorporated in 2019 and provides transport services from its Avonmouth base. Jonathan Dinham is listed as a director, alongside Benjamin Burton.
The company, which is a member of Pall-Ex and Fortec, specialises in palletised freight delivery, international services, general haulage and storage, operating a 30,000sq m warehouse with up to 5,500 pallet locations. It has an operating licence for 18 trucks and 25 trailers.
The latest accounts filed at Companies House, covering the year ended 30 September 2024, showed the company reported net assets of £489,000, compared with £344,000 the previous year.
The accounts showed investment in tangible assets increasing to £1.2m from £519,000, while creditors falling due within one year increased to £1.66m from £364,000. The company reported a working capital deficit of £151,000 at the balance sheet date.
