A newly formed, tech-led logistics group, northstarr, has been launched as the parent company of pallet network operator Pallet-Track, in a move aimed at reshaping how transport, warehousing and supply chain services are delivered.

The group brings together a portfolio of logistics and technology businesses under a single umbrella, combining physical infrastructure with digital capability to create what Group CEO Stuart Godman (pictured) describes as a more “flexible, transparent and customer-led” model.

Alongside Pallet-Track, northstarr has acquired three businesses: flexible warehousing specialist Sqrrl Solutions, cloud-based transport management provider Truckcom, and X2, a flexible 4PL transport operator. Together, they form the core of what Godman calls a “tech-enabled ecosystem.”

“We wanted to build a group that gives our shareholder members and customers more tools in their toolkit,” he said. “This is not about being a traditional one-stop shop. It’s about having a set of high-quality businesses that customers can lean into when they need them.”

A key part of the model remains Pallet-Track’s network of more than 90 independent hauliers, which are not owned by northstarr but are shareholder members. These firms provide the backbone of the group’s transport capacity, with northstarr aiming to enhance their offering through access to flexible warehousing, software, and flexible fleet solutions.

Godman said the approach reflects changing customer expectations following years of supply chain disruption. “People do not want long-term fixed costs anymore. They want flexibility — the ability to scale up and down — and they want visibility and data to run their businesses better,” he said.

Technology is central to that strategy, with the group investing in proprietary platforms that provide real-time tracking, data insights, and operational transparency. “Let’s be the easiest company to do business with,” Godman added. “If you combine great service with the right technology, customers have no reason to go elsewhere.”

As part of the launch, Pallet-Track has opened a new central hub in Wolverhampton, at Waterways Business Park, a site three times the size of its previous facility. The hub will also serve as northstarr’s group headquarters.

The launch follows a period of strong financial performance, with the wider group approaching £200m in revenue and reporting rapid profit growth over the past two years despite challenging market conditions.

Looking ahead, northstarr plans to continue expanding through both acquisition and organic growth. “Doing nothing isn’t an option in this market,” said Godman. “We want to be a progressive, tech-enabled logistics group that’s thinking differently and creating value for our shareholder members, our customers and partners alike.”
