Despite a fall in both turnover and profit last year, car transport and storage specialist EM Rogers (Transport) has praised the company’s performance as a “great achievement” in the face of ongoing economic headwinds.

EM Rogers Transport operates 55 enclosed car transporters which deliver across the UK and Europe, and provides general haulage services, with 20 vehicles transporting goods between the UK and Italy on a weekly basis.

The company, which operates out of its nine-acre site in Northampton, also offers car storage and car transport services and employs around 115 staff.

Reporting its results for the year to 31 January 2025, the company revealed a drop in turnover to £30.5m (2024: £33m) and a reduction in pre-tax profit to £1.3m, down from £1.8m in the previous year.

Haulage and transport revenue fell to £16.3m (2024: £16.7m), whilst vehicles sales fell to £9m, down from £11m in the previous year. Customs and sea and airfreight revenue rose marginally to £5.2m (2024: £5.1m) in the period.

In its business review to the results, the company said: “The directors are pleased to report another successful performance across all parts of the business, this is a great achievement in an economic environment that continues to be challenging, with increased costs and the continued challenge of working across borders in Europe.

“The directors are pleased that as a business everyone involved has embraced the environment we are operating in and still managed to generate new opportunities and keep any pressure on the margins being achieved to a minimum.”

The review added: “In considering the future, the directors are confident in trade continuing in the same way during the year ahead. Whilst the recent change in government and changes in the economy on areas such as interest rates will bring additional challenges it will also bring opportunities. The company has previously been agile in its approach, taking advantage of opportunities as they arise, and the directors expect this to continue in the future.”
