Intake Transport has taken on six new DAF XG 530 trucks with tag axles and a heavy haulage XG+ 530 configured for 80-tonne operations, to support its work in the steel sector.
Including these new arrivals, Intake has been supplied with 12 new DAF tractor units from Asset Alliance Group since it was acquired by brothers Jamie and Fraser Pierce.
Director Jamie Pierce said: “Since acquiring the business in 2024, we have focused heavily on investing in both our fleet and our people.
“The latest additions demonstrate our ambition to provide customers with modern, reliable vehicles whilst ensuring our drivers have the very best equipment available to carry out their work safely and efficiently.”
The addition of the DAF XG+ strengthens the haulier’s heavy haulage capabilities, allowing it to support increasingly complex transport requirements.
The company said Asset Alliance had facilitated a trial and DAF’s models proved themselves in terms of driver comfort and overall performance and were now a cornerstone of Intake’s renewal programme.
The haulier operates 15 tractor units and approximately 100 specialist trailers, including flat trailers, triple extenders, semi-low loaders and low loader equipment.
The new trucks will operate from its Scunthorpe and Glasgow depots, supporting customers nationwide.
