AIT Home Delivery has been appointed as the two-person delivery partner of online retailer Bed Kingdom, following a successful trial.
Bed Kingdom, which specialises in children’s beds, has recently expanded its offering to include sofas and other large furniture items and was looking for a carrier which offered an affordable solution for large and outsized deliveries.
Part of Flair Group, Bed Kingdom offers thousands of own-brand items for nationwide, next-day delivery. Items are sold on various marketplaces as well as through its dropship wholesale business.
The retailer, which is listed in the Sunday Times Top 100 Fast-Growing Businesses, approached AIT Home Delivery having previously worked with the company in its former guise of Panther Logistics.
Samuel Scott, AIT sales director UK and Europe, said: “We had previously enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Bed Kingdom in the days of Panther Logistics and are delighted to be working with the company again.”
A trial period earlier this year was hailed a success, with Levon Hall, Bed Kingdom chief operating officer, confirming that the company was “thrilled” with the efficiency of AIT Home Delivery’s service.
The deal sees AIT Home Delivery provide a suite of services including next day, nominated day, delivery to room of choice and removal of packaging.
Bed Kingdom customers are able to receive their orders on a next-day basis or select their preferred date of delivery.
The retailer’s automated system generates orders to be picked and sends to AIT Home Delivery for daily collection.
Bed Kingdom has also just launched a weekend delivery service with AIT Home Delivery which also handles returns.
Hall said a trusted delivery partner is vital to the business’ reputation. “In our industry the customer will blame a retailer for delivery issues, rather than any carrier.
“Our carrier partners represent us in each delivery and indeed may be the only face-to-face contact with our customers.
“Therefore our choice of carrier is extremely important,” he explained.
Scott added: “Both AIT Home Delivery and Bed Kingdom have come so far since our paths last crossed and both have exciting times ahead. We look forward to working alongside the team again in the next leg of the company’s journey.”
