DPD customers will be able to instruct drivers to avoid making deliveries at specific times, such as the school run, with the launch of the carrier’s new app Your DPD.
Launched today, the new app allows customers to create a profile, through which they can set delivery preferences and track deliveries.
If a customer misses their delivery, the app allows DPD to see when a customer has returned to their home and attempt to deliver a second time (pictured).
The app is available for free on both the iOS and Android software platforms.
DPD chief executive Dwain McDonald said: "For the first time, customers can genuinely create their own parcel plan and be confident that whatever happens, they will have a range of choices, up to the minute information and real-time in-flight options to ensure they never miss a delivery again.”
DPD plans to launch its new service, DPD Precise, later this year, which will allow customers to choose their own delivery slots.
The service will launch with a single customer to begin with, said McDonald, and will be available either through the app or text message.
