Food waste operator Olleco and Walon were the two firms to increase their fleet sizes by the most HGVs within the last week, MT data has found.
Our weekly report lists the fleet numbers for the UK’s largest third party and own account HGV operators.
The latest data showed Olleco, which is also involved in cooking oil waste recovery, increased the number of trucks it operates by 24 to 347. It added six trailers to its fleet, taking the total to 58.
Walon, now part of BCA Marketplace and a supplier of finished vehicle logistics, added 20 HGVs and 20 trailers to its fleet. It now operates 1,227 lorries and 1,227 trailers out of operating centres across the UK.
Elsewhere, independent flooring supplier Kellers took its total fleet numbers up to 71 by adding another six lorries; Synetiq added five to its fleet and Menzies Distribution Solutions is now operating 1,093 trucks after it added two more to its licences.
As far as reductions were concerned, B&M Retail removed 31 HGVs and is now operating 330 and Haulageman reduced its by 20 to be running a total of 80.
New entries to MT’s fleet data are Flannery Plant & Haulage, which is now operating 59 trucks and freight firm Sandhuz, which now runs 50 HGVs.
The weekly report from MT covers over 1,000 UK fleets that together have O-licences for over 300,000 trucks and 240,000 trailers – more than 540,000 commercial vehicles in total.
