DX Network Services boosted its fleet last week, adding 85 trucks and 38 trailers, bolstering the company’s total truck numbers to 1,428 and its trailer cohort to 1,287, according to the latest figures from MT Fleet Data.

In the same week, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets slashed its fleet numbers by 100 trucks and 120 trailers, bringing the total down to 152 trucks and 168 trailers, the report revealed.

Motor Transport Fleet Data lists the fleet numbers of the UK’s largest third party and own account HGV fleet operators every week, based on the weekly O-licence updates issued by the Office of the Traffic Commissioners.

The report covers over 1,000 UK fleets that have O-licences for 75 or more vehicles over 3.5 tonnes GVW.

MT Fleet Data’s latest report shows a number of fleets upping their numbers last week. This includes Bassingbourn-based On-Set Location Services which gained an operating licence for another 50 trucks, boosting the fleet to a total of 150 trucks. The company specialises in providing a fleet of custom-built location vehicles for the TV and film industry.

Other hauliers increasing fleet numbers last week include Leeds-based Lanes Group, which has brought trucks numbers up to 987, with the addition of 35 vehicles, and Iver-located haulier Translux International, which upped its fleet of trucks by 30 to 270 trucks, and its trailer fleet by 20 to a total of 80 vehicles.

Castle Donington-based Moran Logistics also boosted its fleet by 22 lorries and four trailers and is now operating a total of 450 trucks and 508 trailers, whilst LPG supplier Flogas Britain added 26 trucks and nine trailers, bringing their fleets up to 582 trucks and 347 trailers.

FedEx Express UK was another logistics firm adding to its fleet in the week, gaining permission to add another 20 trucks and nine trailers, bringing its fleet numbers up to 91 trucks and 37 trailers.

Fleets that saw their numbers drop last week, along with Sainsbury’s Supermarkets, include Evri, XPO Transport Solutions, EV Cargo Distribution, Abbey Logistics Group, and S J Bargh.

Evri was down by 40 trucks to 2,250 and its trailer fleet fell by 12 to 4,565. 

In the same week XPO Transport Solutions reduced its fleet of trucks by 10 to 3,527, whilst EV Cargo Distribution cut back its truck fleet by seven to 254 and its trailer fleet to 998, down by seven.

Golbourne-headquartered Abbey Logistics Group‘s truck numbers fell by six to 379 vehicles and its trailer numbers were reduced by 12 to 585.

In addition, Lancaster-based SJ Bargh now has a fleet of 207 trucks, after cutting numbers by 25. It also shaved its trailer fleet by 25 vehicles, leaving a total of 164 trailers.

Other changes recorded by MT Fleet Data’s latest report include the disappearance of Scottish haulier Long Lane Deliveries from the listing. The company is part of the Stef Langdons Group.

Meanwhile Dunstable haulier Falcon Freight became a new entry to the listing, boasting 50 trucks and 42 trailers.

MT Fleet Data’s weekly report covers over 1,000 UK fleets that together have O-licences for over 300,000 trucks and 240,000 trailers – more than 540,000 commercial vehicles in total - and enables subscribers to quickly identify operators in each of the eight traffic areas, based on the number of vehicles on the licence and type of operator..
