Thanks to the generosity of the 1,600 guests at the Motor Transport Awards held on 6 July - and some superb prizes donated by sponsors - international road safety charity Transaid raised over £17,000 to support its work saving lives in Africa.
An auction by the energetic Addison Gelpey raised an amazing £12,500 as guests outbid each other for three money-can't-buy prizes: A trip to watch the Monaco Grand Prix 2017 from a private luxury yacht, sponsored by Bandvulc Group; a visit to the Ferrari factory for two people, sponsored by Iveco; and the ultimate sports fan package, including two tickets for an England cricket test match, four tickets for a Bath RUFC match and two tickets to see Liverpool play at Anfield, courtesy of PCA and Bath Rugby Club.
After the awards a casino sponsored by Route Monkey raised an additional £4,815. The high rollers who won the most chips were: Martina Myers ofMenzies Distribution, who walked away with a Virgin Experience donated by Yusen Logistics; John McGualey of Pickup Systems, who won an Otone Audio BluWall portable Bluetooth speaker, donated by Backhouse Jones Solicitors; and Paul Probert of Ryder, who took home a £100 voucher for Marks & Spencer, donated by Iveco.
Well done to them and thank you to everyone who helped raise this superb total.
