Drivers working for Allied Bakeries have secured an inflation-beating pay rise, according to their trade union.
Unite said around 60 HGV drivers for the bakery at the Sighthill depot would receive a pay increase worth at least 8.5%.
This was made up of a 5% rise this year and then an additional 3.5% in 2025.
The union said the pay deal was supported by 92% of its membership and it will also mean that due to rota changes drivers in alternative years will get an extra day’s holiday on 2 January.
Andrew Brown, Unite industrial officer, said: “The inflation beating pay increase for HGV drivers based at Allied Bakeries Sighthill depot is a good deal which received the overwhelming support of our membership.
“It is clear that if drivers in Scotland want to secure better pay and conditions then they should join Unite and ensure their colleagues join as well.”
