Strong operational efficiency has landed Knowles Transport a ‘sweet’ five-year storage and distribution contract with The Silver Spoon Company.
The contract, which will be serviced by a mix of dedicated and general fleet vehicles, will see Knowles store and deliver customer orders.
The products will be stored at the Cambridgeshire operator's 270,000ft2 DC in Wisbech, which opened in January.
Knowles Transport said it hoped the contract would fuel its growth in the FMCG space.
Some of the product will be sent through the Palletforce network, of which Knowles is a member.
Alex Knowles, commercial director at Knowles Transport (pictured left), said: “Our operational flexibility and alternative distribution models, which help to reduce mileage and increase efficiency, were key factors in The Silver Spoon Company’s decision to work with us.
“Over the past five years our ability to offer bespoke commercial and operational offerings has evolved and we are confident of continued growth in the FMCG sector.”
Paul Jagged, The Silver Spoon company's head of logistics (pictured right), said: “Reducing road miles and benefitting from a swift, efficient and flexible supply chain are important factors for The Silver Spoon Company.
"Knowles Transport offered this alongside a clear understanding of our requirements and the ability to deliver a range of warehousing and distribution services.”
