A truck stop in Folkestone has become the latest to be granted the Park Mark Freight award after demonstrating it had taken active steps to protect the safety of customers and reduce crime.
An extension of the Safer Parking assessment for parking sites, the Park Mark Freight accreditation is managed by police crime prevention initiatives and the British Parking Association (BPA) and meets a growing demand for well-managed and high-quality truck stops to combat vehicle and cargo crime.
To be granted the award, a facility must demonstrate a wide range of responsibilities, including low crime, measures in place to enhance the safety of people and vehicles, good management and operations and exemplary customer service.
Facilities are subject to an annual assessment to ensure the high standards are maintained.
The Folkestone site is managed by Getlink Customs Services, part of the Eurotunnel group of companies; a Getlink spokesperson said:
“We’re delighted to have received the Freight Park Mark Award, which reaffirms our ongoing commitment to providing safe, secure, and high-quality parking facilities for HGV drivers.
“This recognition highlights our dedication to supporting the haulage community by ensuring drivers have access to well-managed, comfortable, and trusted rest locations that meet the highest industry standards.”
Naomi Parsons, BPA area manager for the Southeast said: “I am beyond pleased to announce that Getlink Customs Services has achieved the Park Mark Freight Award.
“Throughout the accreditation process, the team continually demonstrated their commitment to providing a safe environment for users.”
Earlier this month Sutterton truck stop near Boston in Lincolnshire was also awarded the freight accreditation.
