Leyland Trucks is on the hunt for 21 apprenticeship candidates, after kicking off its application process for its 2026 intake, with places available for automotive, facility and maintenance engineers, technicians and business professionals.

Those applicants that are successful will begin their training in September 2026, with opportunities available across a range of skills.

These include four-year degree apprenticeships in Design Engineering, IT Software Engineering and Supply Chain, a Level 4 programmes in Automotive Engineering, Facilities & Maintenance, and Fabrication & Welding, plus a Level 5 role in HR. In addition, 10 places are available on the three-year Assembly Operator advanced apprenticeship.

Leyland Trucks’ apprenticeship training focuses around hands-on, experiential learning. From day one, apprentices follow a dual-track approach that combines classroom study with practical, workshop-based training using specialist tools, equipment and technology.

Apprentices will also gain exposure to emerging technologies shaping the sector, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs). In some disciplines, apprentices will work with both diesel and fully electric trucks, ensuring their skills remain relevant as the industry transitions towards zero-emission heavy-duty transport.

Maria Rogers, Leyland Trucks learning and development manager, said: “We’re delighted to open applications for this year’s apprenticeship scheme – one of our most varied and exciting programmes yet. If someone brings ambition and commitment, this programme gives them everything they need to build a successful career in our industry.

“From technical expertise to communication, time management and critical thinking, our apprentices develop skills that will benefit them for life. We also introduce them to cutting-edge manufacturing and sustainable truck technology, which means we’re not just preparing individuals – we’re investing in the future of the industry itself.

“Year after year, our apprentices go on to build secure, rewarding careers. We’re proud to invest in the next generation who will one day become the backbone of our business and the wider region.”

The final deadline for applications is 1st March 2026.

Applicants should complete an online application and will be contacted by 20th March, with shortlisted candidates invited to interview from 30th March – 10th April.
