DPDgroup UK, Rhodes Freight Services and BWT UK recorded the biggest increase to their operator licences over the past 28 days, according to the latest Motor Transport Fleet Data report.

These rises are dominated by major third-party logistics operators, with parcel delivery and general haulage businesses accounting for the largest fleet expansions during the period.

Meanwhile, a number of own-account operators and public sector fleets reduced the number of vehicles authorised on their operator licences.

The data revealed that parcel carrier DPDgroup UK posted the largest increase among major operators, adding 82 vehicles to its operator licence. The company now has 7,874 authorised vehicles, made up of 3,735 trucks and 4,139 trailers.

Rhodes Freight Services also expanded its fleet significantly, increasing its authorised fleet by 80 vehicles to a total of 211 vehicles on its O-licence, while water treatment specialist BWT UK grew its authorised fleet by 60 vehicles to 193.

Among other notable increases, the Royal Borough of Greenwich added 30 authorised vehicles, taking its fleet to 183, while Sussex Port Forwarding increased its total by 15 to reach 80 vehicles.

Sewells Reservoir Construction expanded by 13 vehicles to 171, with Hargreaves Services and Speed-Tech (UK) each adding 10 vehicles to reach authorised fleet totals of 519 and 122 respectively.

Binning Transport increased its fleet by eight vehicles, while Griffin Scaffolding (London) and LMD Skip & Grab Hire recorded smaller increases of four and one vehicle respectively.

At the opposite end of the table, London Borough of Hounslow recorded the largest reduction, with its authorised fleet falling by 79 vehicles to 22.

Pointbid Logistics Systems reduced its authorised fleet by 50 vehicles to 90, while Olleco’s total fell by 30 to 448.

Chris Hayter (Transport) reduced its authorised fleet by 11 vehicles to 270.

Meanwhile Enterprise Rent-A-Car UK saw its authorised fleet edge down by one vehicle to 78, food waste recycling firm Olleco cut its numbers by 30 to 448 vehicles and IAA UK Auctions sliced just two vehicle from its authorised fleet, which now stands at 210 vehicles.
