The DVSA has suspended dangerous goods vehicle (ADR) inspections in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A vehicle is eligible for a waiver if it was registered in GB and either has a current ADR1C dangerous goods certificate which expires on or after 21 March 2020 or is a new vehicle that entered service within the last year under authorisation 476.
The DVSA said you cannot get a waiver for new non-type approved dangerous goods vehicles being put into service for the first time, or for a vehicle where the details on the ADR1C document have changed – for example, a change of owner or the product it’s allowed to carry.
In addition, any dangerous goods vehicle not covered by The Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) Regs, such as a vehicle or trailer less than 3.5-tonnes, is also not covered by the suspension.
If your annual inspection is due and you wish to continue transporting dangerous goods you will need to apply for a waiver and follow certain rules.
A copy of the waiver confirmation email from the DVSA must be carried at all times, as well as the authorisation certificate.
Failure to do so could result in a deferred prohibition notice.
