Yet another reshuffle at the DfT has seen local roads and traffic minister Robert Goodwill step away from road transport entirely.

Under the move Goodwill’s responsibilities for local roads and traffic will be taken on by freight and logistics minister Andrew Jones, with Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon retaining responsibilities for road agencies (not Highways England).

Goodwill as minister for state now has responsibility for aviation, martime, high speed rail and cycling.

This is the latest in a series of reshuffles at the DfT.

In May this year Claire Perry moved away from her responsibility for freight and logistics, despite taking on the role just six months before with Jones joining the DfT. Perry remains at the department but overseeing rail.

Perry herself arrived at the DfT in a reshuffle in July 2014, which saw John Hayes replace Stephen Hammond as the minister responsible for roads.

Hayes subsequently left the DfT in May of year to become minister for security at the Home Office.

Goodwill was of course - for all of two months - freight minister in late 2013.
