Former assistant whip Claire Perry MP has taken over responsibility for freight and logistics at the DfT.
She was appointed to the role in the recent ministerial reshuffle, which also saw John Hayes replace Stephen Hammond as the minister responsible for roads.
Hammond was responsible for freight and logistics before being replaced by Hayes, but the recent ministerial reshuffle has seen a reorganisation of ministers' responsibilites at the department.
As well as freight and logisitcs, Perry, the Conservative MP for the Devizes in Wiltshire, also oversees rail, transport agencies, corporate and better regulation.
In his new role, Hayes has responsibility for national roads, the reform of the Highways Agency and the Infrastructure Bill, as well as maritime.
Robert Goodwill MP, who was briefly roads minister at the DfT, remains with the department with, in the main, responsibilities away from road transport. However he does have some related areas of coverage as part of his minsterial breif including local roads, traffic, road safety and cycling and walking.
