A reshuffle of the DfT ministers has moved Claire Perry away from her responsibility for freight and logistics, despite her moving into the role just six months ago.

She is replaced by Andrew Jones, Conservative MP for the Harrogate and Knaresborough area. Perry is to take responsibility for rail in her new position.

The new line up follows the re-appointment of Patrick McLoughlin as secretary of state for transport last week.

Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon has also joined the department, following the resignation of Baroness Susan Kramer and Robert Hayes’ move to the Home Office.

Ahmad’s responsibilities within the department are to include skills and the supply chain.

Lord Ahmad is also a member of the Home Office ministerial team, where his responsibilities are yet to be confirmed.
