Continental Tyres has renewed and extended its warehousing and distribution contract with Norbert Dentressangle for another five years.
The new part of the contract will see ND’s Rugby site used as a consolidation point for orders delivered as full loads from Continental’s manufacturing plants across Europe ahead of deliveries to wholesalers across the UK. The site will also continue to operate as Continental’s UK and Ireland NDC.
The contract will also see the operator consolidate Continental’s volumes with volumes from Bridgestone, another ND customer, and provide next day delivery to retailers across the UK.
ND will also increase the size of the Rugby site to 125,000 ft² by establishing another 10,000ft² of warehouse space to accommodate additional volumes.
The operator will store over 30,000 items and handle over 1.5m tyres for passenger cars, trucks and forklift trucks within the additional space per year, taking its annual total to 2.7m tyres per year.
Continental Tyres’ supply chain director, Stewart Jackson, said: “The continuing high level service provided by Norbert Dentressangle is of the utmost importance to us as it has a direct effect on our customers.”
ND has held the contract, which was previously ran out of a site in Birmingham, since 2006.
