Ceva Logistics has renewed its contract with seafood supplier John West Foods for another three years.
This latest win comes just one month after Ceva Logistics clinched a deal with white goods manufacturer Miele to extend its long-running contract for another five years.
Under the John West Foods deal, which has already seen a 25% increase in throughput, Ceva will continue to manage the inbound container movements from the Port of Felixstowe to its Mendlesham site, where it processed more than 33,000 tonnes in 2015.
Ceva will also manage the 150,000 ft² of warehousing and a dedicated re-work service for packing loose cans into customer trade unit specifications at the site.
The logistics firm is also responsible for the national distribution of palletized orders to retailers and wholesalers at 340 delivery points across the UK.
As part of the contract extension, Ceva has also consolidated all warehousing at Mendlesham into a single unit, with new dock levelers and a sprinkler system installed and office facilities refurbished.
Ceva’s freight management team will also take on additional responsibility for import and Customs management, including all port health documentation.
Michael O’Donoghue, Ceva’s executive vice president UK, Ireland and Nordics, welcomed the renewal of the partnership, which began in 2007.
He attributed the win to John West having “seen our drive for operational excellence in action and the Ceva team’s role has been expanded into new areas as we strive to make John West’s supply chain even more nimble and efficient.”
