Whistl signs up to UN-backed net zero standard

Parcel, mail and e-fulfilment specialist Whistl has committed to having its efforts to reach net zero by 2045 audited by an international standards body.

The United Nations-backed Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aims to help companies across the world halve their emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

Whistl has announced that from a baseline of 2022, the short-term aim is a 21% emissions reduction by 2030. By 2045 it expects to have reduced by 95% its annual carbon dioxide equivalent emissions to under 37,544 tonnes.

By signing up to the SBTi framework, Whistl will have its targets reviewed by a panel of experts and following validation will have to report on annual basis the progress it is making on hitting its short and longer term carbon reduction goals.
