Family-owned national foodservice wholesaler Creed Foodservice has taken delivery of three 12-tonne rigid trucks fitted with the UK’s first Carrier Transicold new Xarios 8 multi-temperature (MT) units.
Creed’s new vehicles will operate five days a week, completing between eight to 15 deliveries a day both in and around central London and down to the Kent coast.
They are based at Creed’s High Wycombe depot and will cover around 20,000km annually.
Creed Foodservice, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, delivers ambient, fresh and frozen produce and non-food catering products nationwide, to customers across the care, education, destination leisure and hospitality sectors.
The new Carrier Transicold Xarios 8 MT units, which provide high cooling capacity with reduced fuel costs and lower emissions, are fitted to three 12 tonne DAF LF rigids.
Supplied on a contract hire agreement with Petit Forestier, these are mounted with specialised bodies provided by Gray & Adams.
The new Xarios 8 MT features an all-new underlying architecture and offers 55% more cooling capacity and 20% more heating capacity than previous models.

Carrier Transicold said the increased power of the new Xarios 8 MT allows small to medium-sized trucks to benefit from the direct drive system, removing the need for a standalone diesel engine and creating a lightweight, low-noise solution aimed at urban deliveries.
The Xarios 8 MT unit also cut fuel and operational maintenance costs and reduces fleet emissions.
The microchannel heat exchanger condenser technology results in a 40% decrease in Global Warming Potential (GWP) related to refrigerant usage versus equivalent diesel-powered systems, according to Carrier.
The units also support Carrier’s 2030 ESG goal to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint by more than one gigaton.
