Training firm Red Driver Risk Management (RDRM) has won a contract to provide driver training and licence checking services for volunteers at the Commonwealth Games this summer.
In addition, it will be providing bespoke fleet manager training to the games’ organisers, covering duty of care and other legal responsibilities.
RDRM chief executive Seb Goldin said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the Commonwealth Games.
“By ensuring all of the volunteers involved are checked and trained, we can ensure that the games are not only a hugely successful event, but also a safe one.
“The vast majority of drivers involved are volunteers, so it’s essential we check that they are legally allowed to drive, as well as being competent and safe behind the wheel as they fulfil duties such as transporting athletes and VIPs.”
RDRM trainers will also be at the games’ vehicle and driver hub at Aston University in Birmingham, delivering classroom training on subjects such as mobile phone use, safety and security, what to do in the event of an incident, and damage process.
