SSO Logistics on Merseyside has become the latest member of the Pallet Track network, a move it said would create 12 new jobs.
The St Helens company also said it would be able to cut its carbon footprint through vehicle load optimisation and its proximity to Pallet-Track’s northern hub, as it takes over deliveries in part of the WA postcode area.
SSO Logistics began trading in 2013 and provides national and international distribution services.
The family-owned business said it would be creating 20 jobs, 12 of which are directly linked to becoming a pallet network member.
Director Peter Draper said: “Being so close to the northern hub and being able to reduce our carbon footprint was one of the main drivers for becoming a Pallet Track shareholder member.
“Apart from the new jobs it has helped create, it is also boosting our revenue by £1m.”
Pallet Track CEO Caroline Green said pallet networks were “a really green and cost-effective solution” and helped transport firms reduce their carbon footprint.
She added: “SSO has a lot of energy and ambition and an admirable track record of local, national and international delivery, credentials that are all-important at a time when volumes and demand for our services have never been higher.
“This increased demand is tempered with greater environmental expectation from the buying public.”
SSO has two operating centres in St Helens, authorising a total of 46 HGVs and 65 trailers.
