DFDS is launching a new unaccompanied freight service between Sheerness and Calais on 1 June. Government has paid close to £6m in rent to Manston Airport owners as an unused Operation Stack alternative
The government has paid the owners of Manston Airport in Kent more than £5.7m to retain it as an emergency lorry parking area if Operation Stack is used.
East Yorkshire bulk powder haulier Simon Gibson Transport has been acquired by French logistics firm Groupe Charles André (GCA) for an undisclosed sum.
The DfT has declined to confirm the contents of a document sent to transport minister Andrew Jones by Kent County Council, which reportedly calls for nearly £300m of extra funding to be put into additional infrastructure to relieve the M20 during Operation Stack.
