Hauliers returning from Spain are exempt from the 14-day self-isolation rules put in place by the UK government, so long as their journey is work-related the RHA has confirmed.

People returning to the UK from Spain or its islands must quarantine for two weeks after it was added to the list of at-risk countries on 26 July, due to a spike in cases of Covid-19.

However, truckers are exempt if their journey is in a freight vehicle and they are carrying community authorisation, a consignment note and Covid movement documents.

Everyone coming back to the UK, bar limited exceptions that do not include professional drivers, must complete a UK Passenger Contact Locator form.

Meanwhile, the DVLA has confirmed that the HGV road user levy has been suspended until August 2021.
