Commercial EV company Tevva has welcomed a technological breakthrough in the US which enables rapid charging of batteries, potentially adding 200 miles of driving time. CEVA Logistics is using its Urban Distribution Hub at Dartford, Kent to undertake an electric vehicle trial for lorries delivering into central London.
The “massive challenge” of distributing millions of Covid-19 vaccines in the UK, as well as across the world, will largely rely on courier firms such as UPS, DHL and FedEx, according to logistics experts.
UPS has rolled out 15 range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs) in Birmingham and Southampton to overcome the range limitations it said pure electric delivery vehicles can face reaching depots or warehouses based outside the city centre.
