Hermes UK has launched a degree apprentice programme that enables students to earn while they learn. Hermes has won a three-year contract with mail order clothing retailer Chums to handle over 250,000 home deliveries a year.
Hermes has appointed two new board members to help support its plans for growth in the home delivery market. Ex-Parcelforce board member Gary Winter has joined the company as sales and marketing director, along with Jane Naumkin as human resources director. Winter has experience of the parcel industry through his previous roles as head of business development at Royal Mail packets and business transformation director at Parcelforce. Hermes has revealed record results at its UK division, with revenue up 22% in 2011. The parcels company says this reinforces its position as the country’s second-largest home-delivery business. Revenue stood at €303m during 2011, up from €248m in the previous year. Hermes says its UK arm handled more than 140 million parcels during the year, as demand for its home delivery services increased with online retail sales.
