Operators have been invited to supply evidence to support an inquiry by the Transport Committee into the work of Vosa. The way that Vosa approached its investigation into the operations of Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) was as near to entrapment as it was possible to get, it was suggested by defence counsel at Leeds Crown Court earlier this month.
Vosa is to trial a Remote Enforcement Office (REO) for compliant operators, in a bid to throw more resources into targeting those who fail to reach the required standards.
Both the FTA and the RHA have now urged the chancellor to prioritise cutting fuel duty and ensuring the HGV Road User Levy does not negatively impact on UK operators.
