Bibby Distribution has reported "a seamless transition" after winning a contract to manage the full logistics programme on behalf of Dairy Crest subsidiary Fayrefield FoodTec.

The rolling contract includes the receipt and storage of raw dry food ingredients from suppliers, product sampling and final delivery to food manufacturers throughout the UK.

The company said palletised deliveries to Fayrefield’s Crewe mixing plant and larger consignments to local customers have now been fully integrated into its network - operating out of Meir Park in Stoke-on-Trent.

Bibby added that the contract we being managed and operated by existing staff.

"Making the move to a new supplier was a big step, but the team at Bibby gave us the confidence to know that we, and our customers, would be fully supported," said Fayrefield FoodTec operations manager Dave Smith.

Meanwhile, Bibby Distribution said that all staff based at its Whitland, south-west Wales operation, have been offered jobs at a new site 26 miles away.

The company told MotorTransport.co.uk it wanted to make the move to Cross Hands "purely for operational efficiency" and that it would be beneficial for its customer, First Milk.

The decision to relocate followed a "detailed review of the company’s operations in that area".

Bibby regional distribution manager Andrew Foley added: "Although a firm relocation date has not yet been confirmed, it is anticipated this will take place in early December."
